Omega, the official timekeeper of the London 2012 Olympic Games,
today presented its global advertising campaign for the London Games,
celebrating the brand’s rich Olympic history and the great moments in
time that are at the heart of the Olympic movement.
The television commercial, produced in 15-, 30- and 60-second
versions, features Chinese diver Qiu Bo, U.S. swimmer Natalie Coughlin,
British heptathlete Jessica Ennis, U.S. sprinter Tyson Gay, South
African swimmer Chad Le Clos and U.S. pole vaulter Jenn Suhr – all
Olympic hopefuls and Omega watches Brand Ambassadors – and focuses on the
athletes’ routines and concentration in the pivotal minutes and seconds
before competition, a moment in time for each athlete than can set the
tone for his / her entire performance.
And the soundtrack was provided by the Rolling Stones, who in this
Olympic year are celebrating fifty years as London’s most iconic music
makers. Their 1981 hit, “Start Me Up”, with its pulsating and instantly
recognizable opening guitar riff has been remixed by star producer Don
Was and provides the perfect soundscape for the world-class athletes.
“The shooting schedule and locations for the spot were quite
ambitious,” said OMEGA president Stephen Urquhart. “But the result is
powerful and emotional and we are very happy with the result.” He added,
“The Rolling Stones are the definitive London band and we are thrilled
with this mix that breathes new life into a great song that the world
has loved of thirty years.”
The commercial was filmed at five separate locations in South
Florida. Ennis and Suhr filmed at Sun Life Stadium, the 75,000-seat home
of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins; local rowers from the Miami Rowing Club
and an Olympic-hopeful archer shot at Key Biscayne’s Miami Marine
Stadium; Qiu Bo took to the 10 meter platform at the Fort Lauderdale
Aquatic Complex; Tyson Gay and his training partners from Pure Athletics
in Orlando filmed at Miami’s Curtis Park; and Coughlin and Le Clos shot
at Ransom Everglades School’s new aquatic complex.
“The day was really fun,” said Coughlin of her shoot at Ransom
Everglades School. “Timing is everything in the sport of swimming and I
am very proud to be a part of the OMEGA family.”
“It’s a great honor to be a part of this ‘advert’ and to be an Omega watch Ambassador,” said Ennis. “To be featured alongside so many other great athletes in this campaign is a real privilege.”
“I had a great time with all my teammates,” said Gay of his shoot day
in Miami. “We had a great time laughing, and joking around, and I’m
really glad I got to share the experience with them.”
“It was my first time in the United States and I didn’t want to go
home,” said Le Clos of his experience at the shoot. “It was such a
beautiful place to be, the school and the facilities were fantastic.
Being on set is very new to me, but something I think I can get used
to.”
“The OMEGA crew was so helpful and supportive in helping me feel
comfortable in an atmosphere I’m truly not,” said Suhr of her shoot day
in Miami. “The amount of work that goes into this, from the amount of
people on set, to the preparation, is incredible.”
The 2012 Olympic Games in London will have a special significance for OMEGA.
Not only will the company assume the role of Official Timekeeper for
the 25th time, it will also celebrate 80 years since it first served as
Official Olympic Official Timekeeper at the Los Angeles 1932 Olympic
Games. And in 1948, the last time the Games were contested in London,
OMEGA was on hand to help usher in the birth of modern sports
timekeeping.

Victorinox Swiss Army
In 1884, Victorinox invented the famous Swiss knife which is now
renowned the world over. Today, the firm has diversified and is
bombarding the markets with its high-quality products.
In 1884, entrepreneur Karl Elsener opened a cutlery works in Ibach, in the canton of Schwyz. At a time when Switzerland was one of the poor nations of Europe – many Swiss had to move abroad to find work – he had no idea that his company would become internationally famous and would still be going strong more than a century later. The pioneering spirit of this native of Schwyz, his loyalty and his devotion to his homeland played a part in the development of his firm, its philosophy and its fame.
Equipped with only the most basic tools – a water wheel powered by the River Todelbach supplied the mechanical energy needed for sharpening and polishing machines – Victorinox nonetheless rapidly made a name for itself in cutlery. In 1891, the Swiss Army placed an order to equip its soldiers with sturdy and compact knives. The latter quickly became best-sellers and several years later were covered by a registered trademark. At the turn of the twentieth century however the Victorinox knife became a victim of counterfeiting. To protect it, Karl Elsener adopted the use of the famous emblem with a white cross, the distinctive sign still used by the brand today. The same year, the founder gave his knives the name Victoria, the first name of the deceased mother who had supported him in setting up his business.
On the strength of its many qualities, the Swiss knife became known all over the world, more particularly in the United States where people started calling it the «Swiss Army Knife», a moniker which quickly caught on in all English-speaking regions.
After more than a century of existence, Victorinox decided to diversify into watchmaking. While holding fast to the same basic values – quality products at the service of others – stylised timepieces were created and launched under the Swiss Army brand. Like their smaller brother the knife, they very quickly proved a big success. Ten years later, the Victorinox range swelled its ranks with baggage: strong, solidly assembled products with a discreet and contemporary design. In 2001, a line of sportswear and professional clothing, developed initially specifically for the American market, was added to the brand’s growing inventory.
In 2005, the company took over Wenger SA, based in Delémont, a manufacturer of knives since 1893 and also a Swiss Army supplier. Two years later, the old line of Wenger perfumes was repositioned and also assigned the Victorinox emblem.
In total therefore, six categories of products combining functionality, quality and Swiss design are distributed under the Victorinox name: hand tools, household and professional knives, watches, baggage, clothing and perfumes.
Starting with almost nothing, Victorinox today employs more than 1,800 people worldwide (1,200 in Switzerland and 600 abroad) and has a turnover of around 500 million francs. It has managed to remain in family hands, since the Elsener family owns 10% of the shares and the remaining 90% belong to the Victorinox foundation, the aim of which is to guarantee long-term employment and maintain financial independence.
Retaining close links with its roots and with nature, the family lays great store by environmental protection and environmentally-friendly production methods. Thanks to the meticulous selection and processing of materials, the firm manufactures products that are wholly recyclable and feature the «Point vert» ecology label. Through heat recovery, the firm is able to heat itself independently, as well as 120 nearby households. Its ecological approach, but also its business culture, have earned it many distinctions over the past ten years (SUVA Award 2009, Prix d’équité suisse, Unkunde GGKA, Fifi Award, etc). In 2011, the firm’s CEO Carl Elsener received the Swiss Award in the Economy category.
Today the entire product range is distributed globally and more specifically through three flagship stores in which all six product lines are represented: London, Düsseldorf and Geneva. Moreover the Geneva store has been renovated and now extends over three vast floors at number 2, Rue du Marché.
Because the Victorinox pocket knife lies at the origin of this magnificent family saga, because this small object, known all over the world, has rendered such great service to millions of people, and because its history has guided the development of the brand’s other product lines, Victorinox has decided to call it the «Companion for Life». This is also the title of a forthcoming advertising campaign to be launched worldwide this May, based on hundreds of testimonies sent in from all four corners of the globe by users of the famous Victorinox Swiss Army Knife that has given such good service, and even in some cases saved lives. If you, too, have a story to tell concerning this legendary knife, go to victorinox.com. Your testimony could perhaps become part of the future advertising campaign. Nixon - Modern Timepieces
Nixon watches are known for their unique designs and solid
craftsmanship. They have been sold to many active outdoor enthusiasts
for several years now and with their purchase by Billabong they have
only grown more profitable. At one time Nixon watches were once
classified into a categorized system with such notable names as business
and elite. Currently their watch line is separated into three different
groups. These groups are men’s, women’s, and elite types.
Watches made by Nixon vary greatly in function and style. Many of the original watch styles have been taken off the market or have undergone a serious style change. Current watch selections will often have several different styles for the same production model.
Overall, Nixon watches are recognized as a world leader in watch production and sales. They are a relatively new company but they have managed to become a magnate in the world market for accessories. Their products range from simple seeming watches such as the Time Tell P to the heavy metal 51-30 divers range. The innovative styles of Nixon watches cannot be overstated. Unlike many of the companies in the market that sell Nixon watches for men is willing to try bold new designs. Some of them do not even use numbers and only rend either a dot or the hands for viewing.
These watches are very accurate, the Newton and the Vega are good examples of this line, but they require an individual to actually know the general idea of how to tell time on a watch. These are obviously more for style than accuracy. However, there are other models produced by Nixon that are the epitome of exact, precise, temporal measurement.
One such watch is the Murph. The Murph is a square faced watch for men. This watch is available in a wide variety of coloration from traditional gold and silver to bright blue. It features a top half that is opaque with a highly visible and accessible crown. This makes changing the time on it almost ridiculously easy. When this is combined with the Japanese direct drive quartz technology that allows for the second hand to run on its own dial system the watch owner has a very high-end time piece on his or her hands.
When it comes to the ladies, Nixon mens watches do not fall short. The broken heart pendant model is a well known timepiece due to its unique shape. The watch case is heart-shaped and comes in a wide variety of colours. Truthfully it is almost as much a piece of jewellery as it is a watch and any lady interested in wearing it for a night out on the town will find it the perfect accessory for an elegant evening at the theatre.

There is perhaps no other watch maker that gives such a wide price range, considering the quality involved. It is this combination of price and innovation that has helped propel Rotary watches as one of the leading watch manufacturers.
Swatch Watches For Men
The company was formed by the merging of two already great Swiss
watch manufacturers, ASUAG and SSIH and is currently located in Biel,
Switzerland. Swatch Group makes products in the timekeeping industry,
jewellery and of course watches. Swatch was introduced to the market for
the first time in March of 1983 and has 24,000 employees worldwide.
The meaning of the word Swatch was a combination of the two words “second” and “watch” and was part of a marketing campaign to re-establish Switzerland as a major player in the worldwide wristwatch market. The plan was to introduce a watch that was both casual while also being fun and functional at the same time. Soon the Swatch watch began to gain popularity and as it did so captured its place in the market challenging Japanese manufacturers such as Seiko. Swatch Group was successful in putting the Swiss back on the map in a big way. Two years after introducing their line of Swatch watches the Swatch group successfully sold more than 3.5 million watches.
To continue to hold their position the Swatch Group began making different styles of watches such as the Pop Swatch. This Swatch could be attached to your shirt or vest and soon became very popular. Artists from all over lent their creativity in helping the company develop unique trendsetting original Swatch backgrounds and bands.
Soon the fad of trendy stylish watches became popular throughout the hip-hop community. Swatch catered to this interest by creating watches with interchangeable faces and bands. The same watch you wore today would have a completely different look tomorrow. The Swatch was no longer just a watch anymore it was a fashion statement that reflected ones individual tastes. Just as you would carefully select your wardrobe for the day the selection of which Swatch style or color was just as important.
Today the Swatch brand has 5 different families of watch brands, Swatch Originals, Swatch Irony, Swatch Skin, The Swatch Beat and Swatch Bijoux.
Swatch currently has over a dozen types of watches to include watches that are designed for diving. There is model known as the Paparazzi that enables the owner to connect to the internet and download music, news, sports etc. There is an upper end of Swatch watches which caters specifically for those who can afford to have nothing but the best. This line of watches have all the great Swiss craftsmanship and are diamond encrusted for those who can afford them.
The Swatch Group is still one of the top watch manufacturers and is the largest in the world. Known primarily for its watch making Swatch is also the main sponsor for the Beach Volleyball World Tour and has designed a Swatch specifically for beach volleyball players. Swatch was also the official timekeeper of the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games. By staying on top of growing market trends and maintaining its quality and workmanship Swatch has insured that it will be a main player in the watch making industry for years to come.

Timex Watches For Everybody
The company that drove the way for revolutionizing affordable,
practical clocks began small. The Waterbury Clock company, much later to
be known as the now famous Timex watches,
was founded in 1854. Before the slogan, “It takes a licking and keeps
on ticking,” made Timex a household name, the Waterbury Company created
the first inexpensive home clock every working class citizen could
purchase. A few years later their sister company, Waterbury Watch,
manufactured the first economical mechanical pocket watch, and then in
early 1900 a pocket watch costing just one dollar, named “The Yankee”,
was put on the market.
The Waterbury Company was a company of firsts.
They were the forerunners of inexpensive timepieces, bringing them into the average person’s home. Another first pertained to wristwatches. At the beginning of the 20th century only ladies wore wristwatches; men wore elaborate pocket watches attached to chains. World War I changed all that. Fighting men in the trenches began wearing wristwatches. A pocket watch was impractical when trying to get it out while shouldering a gun and standing vigilant against an enemy. The convenience stuck and after the war was over men found it acceptable to wear a watch strapped to their wrists.
During World War II the company name was changed to U.S. Time Company and kicked off a wristwatch ad campaign, calling it a Timex. The ad featured a watch strapped to the end of Mickey Mantles bat. Every man knew if the great Mickey Mantle wore a wristwatch, it was okay. Many ads followed, but the most famous advertisement slogan was quoted by veteran newscaster, John Cameron Swayze. “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!” Timex watches for men were shoved in dishwashers, strapped to jackhammers, and run over by cars. It seemed nothing could destroy a Timex watch. The ad campaign was so successful over 5 million were sold by the late 1950s and by the end of the decade one in three watches sold in the United States was a Timex.
The word Timex is synonymous with the word watch. Today, almost anyone asked could remember at one time owning a Timex, or showing one currently strapped to their wrist. In a world full of economic collapse for so many businesses, Timex has proved they are a company that can truly, “take a licking and keep on ticking!”

With over 175 men’s watches to choose from, there’s bound to be
something that speaks to you. Diesel is definitely a man’s kind of
sight, with heavy jewellery and massive watches in all shapes and
colours. A man that would like the Diesel brand is some one that knows
what they’re looking for. Even if there was some uncertainty, browsing
through what Diesel has to offer will surely help you come to a
conclusion. Bright colours, angular faces, digital and analogue numbers,
there are unlimited choices at Diesel watch range.
Is there anything in it for the ladies, though?
Women will find Diesel to be a great supplier of both jewellery and watches just as they are for men. Diesel’s line of jewellery for women is feminine, flirty, sexy, and classy all at the same time. Diesel watches for ladies include the same bold and chunky style you find in the men’s versions along with slim, daintier styles. White straps make for a clean, more classic look than what you would find in the men’s section. With only just over 45 styles, however, the Diesel brand seems to be geared more towards the masculine side of the world.
Diesel also features unisex watches which can be worn by men or women without any preference. These unisex Diesel watches are normally included in with the ladies styles, so you sort of have to pick them out yourself. Any Diesel rep could also tell you what watches could go for either gender.
Aside from watches, Diesel features jewellery for both men and women. While their jewellery speaks well to both men and women, Diesel is better known for their watches. Over 60 items to choose from for men and just over 45 for women, many of these pieces are emblazoned with the Diesel brand, so you really have to love it. While there is more variety without the Diesel name for women, there is no shortage of materials for men with leather and stainless steel.
Diesel accessories for men include: bracelets, dog tags, rings, and watches; whereas women’s accessories are slightly more expanded with rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and watches. The increased selection for men makes up for the slight lack of selection in some cases.
A last look at the Diesel brand leaves a person with big, bold jewellery and watches that are only good on some one who knows how to handle big pieces. While there are some options for women that aren’t so chunky, the majority of the selection still focuses on Diesel’s signature style mentioned above. The main idea behind the Diesel brand is to exude power through accessories, which are normally meant to be complimentary to a person’s style. A quick look at women’s watches give a good variety of colour and style, whether your preference is big or more feminine and dainty; men’s watches are big, bold, and classic in style with some new trends coming in that haven’t been seen much yet. Baume and Mercier in Hamptons
The word “Hamptons” is associated with a lifestyle like few places in
the world. Immediately upon hearing the name, visions of sand, surf,
wood decks, casual conversations and laughter come to mind. But do
others around the world understand this seaside living at its finest? It
is Baume & Mercier’s intention to bring a taste of the Hamptons to
the world with its newest global ad campaign, shot on the East End and
kicking off with the tagline, “Life is about moments.”
Nearly three years in the making, the campaign reflects the brand’s sensibilities, explains Alain Zimmermann, CEO of Baume & Mercier. “We have always created watches built around lifestyles and authenticity, watches that are about relaxed sophistication, and we have the distinction of being a watch that defines special moments. So the concept comes full circle,” he says. Baume & Mercier elected to shoot the seaside ad in East Hampton using localmodels to capture the vibrant attitudes and emotions of the area. According to Zimmermann, the international pastiche of the Hamptons is ripe with the kind of cultural activity, artistic savoir faire, sophisticated elegance and rich family values in keeping with the company’s heritage. “Baume & Mercier has always been a memory keeper, and we want to go on marking those occasions with exceptional watches,” says Zimmermann.
To spread the word, Baume & Mercier watches recently gathered several hundred international journalists in East Hampton for a few days to form their own impressions of our corner of the world. Even locals would be envious of the itinerary. Home base was the Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina. Days were filled with workshops about Baume & Mercier’s inspiration, and attendees visited the places behind the ad campaign: the Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center, the former residence and studio of Jackson Pollock; Montauk Point Lighthouse, whose construction started in 1796; the Victorian beach home Kilkare House, built in 1879 and whimsically named for killing one’s cares while at the beach. Activities also included a Wölffer Estate Vineyard winery tour, horseback riding, surfing, conservatory painting and more.
The brand also just unveiled its revamped Baume & Mercier Hampton Collection, inspired by a museum piece from the 1940s. The highly distinctive rectangular watches exude an Art Deco feel with a generously enhanced curved sapphire crystal offering modern accents. To conjure the famous East End light, the brand uses rose gold for its coppery sunset color; for wood tones, a bit of stainless steel. The collection includes a bold and beautiful series of self-winding, automatic and chronograph watches for men, offered with either a bracelet or a top-quality alligator strap with specially developed water-resistant linings that leave them supple and comfortable.

Antiquorum is proud to add to its growing list of world records for timepieces with important provenance that includes Gandhi’s Zenith pocket watch, Steve McQueen’s Rolex and Einstein’s Longines,” said Evan Zimmermann, President & CEO, Antiquorum.
The top lot by value was the exceptional Patek Philippe Ref. 5016 [lot 269], a tourbillon minute repeater with custom grey dial. Two phone bidders enthusiastically vied for the rare timepiece and it ultimately sold to a Chinese phone bidder for an impressive $542,500.
Additional examples of Patek Philippe timepieces also sold remarkably well. Notably, the Patek Philippe Ref. 3974 in yellow gold, a minute-repeating perpetual calendar [lot 268], brought an astounding $380,500. Furthermore, discontinued Patek Philippes achieved noteworthy prices in the June auction, including Ref. 5885, Ref. 5098, the “Gondolo,” and the Ref. 5036.
Several other brands were well-represented in the sale. Lange and Soehne achieved an impressive result for its “Pour le Merite” in yellow gold [lot 267],selling for a fantastic $188,500; while spirited bidding for the Ulysse Nardin “Trilogy of Time” [lot 146], resulted in an exceptional price of $164,500, twice its low estimate.
“We were impressed by the remarkable results for today’s sale. The diverse interests of the global market resulted in outstanding prices for complicated mens watches from multiple brands including Lange and Soehne, Patek Philippe, Jaeger – LeCoultre and Ulysse Nardin,” said Michael Friedman, Horological Diretctor, Antiquorum USA.
Antiquorum looks forward to its next auction on June 23rd in Hong Kong, which will feature a fantastic collection of Patek Philippe wristwatches as well as an impressive selection of rare Rolex diving watches.
Armani Exchange Timepieces
Armani is a Italian brand that will always be associated with great
fashion and style, and Armani Exchange watches are no exception. With
men’s and women’s shapes, these timepieces are crafted for style,
function, and high standarts. Styles range from elegant to elaborate,
but there is sure to be an Armani Exchange watch that’s just right for
you. Armani Exchange stands behind their products, and most watches come
with a 1-2 year warranty. While the specs on these watches varies by
model, most are water resistant and feature 3-hand analogue movement for
precision and accurate time.
Armani exchange watches for men are made in many materials and styles to coordinate with any wardrobe. From the black rhinestone watch, with a black leather band and rhinestone settings around the face, to the round fuchsia with a fashionable plastic band, there is a style for any occasion. The Round Black style features rhinestones in the watch face, and a stainless steel band available in classic stainless, gold tone stainless, or black finish. Other designs feature oversized dials and metal bands for a little more attitude. If you prefer a less feminine watch style, the daring Logo Stone Cuff watch has a band circumference of 175mm to fit perfectly, while the style is a bold wide cuff within inset watch face. And of course there are classic jewellery styled watches, simple but elegant when you don’t want your Armani Exchange watch to be the first thing people notice.
The men’s lines range from traditional style to industrial designs. The Leather Industrial watch features a two tone leather band and a large squared face in bold industrial style. For more refined tastes there is the Classic Gold Chronograph, with subdued lines and classic gold finish. The Black Leather Square watch has a durable black leather band and stainless steel case that is water resistant to 165ft. as well as the date displayed on the watch face. The Sport series watches all feature coloured rubber watch bands stainless steel cases and several have the inner workings visible in the watch case. Whatever your taste, there’s an Armani Exchange watch to suit your needs.
Available at several high end department stores and directly from Armani Exchange these watches are very affordable and of the highest quality. Several styles are available for both men and women in brightly coloured rubber with stainless steel cases. These are probably the most visible styles made by Armani Exchange, but even with the brightly coloured bands they maintain the stylishness people have come to expect from Armani. These bold styles truly set Armani Exchange apart from the competition, and with styles starting in the £100 range they are very affordable. Comparable watches by other manufacturers often cost twice as much, and with less assurance of quality. Armani Exchange is setting the new standard for fashion and function in both new and classic design styles sure to please anyone. And all of these mens watches feature the same quality standards and warranty that makes Armani Exchange one of the most reliable watch makers in the market today.
